Angla Windmills and Heritage Center
Angla Windmills and Heritage Center is nestled in the picturesque Saaremaa Island on the west coast of Estonia. Our five windmills, standing tall against the backdrop of Saaremaa’s idyllic countryside, offer a glimpse into the traditional agricultural practices that have sustained our communities for generations.
Explore the exhibits that bring to life the stories of the people who called Saaremaa home. Discover the artistry and craftsmanship behind our traditional crafts, from weaving to pottery, and taste the flavors of authentic Estonian cuisine in our charming café.
Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a nature lover, or simply seeking a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life, the Angla Windmills and Heritage Center promises a unique and memorable journey.
A Rich Cultural Heritage Center
We are open year-round, every day – longer during the summer season and shorter during the winter season, just like the sun shines high in the sky. And as it is well-known, Saaremaa is the sunniest place in Estonia.
Fun for the Whole Family!
Take a stroll with children among the windmills, climb on wooden horses, admire domestic birds during the summer.
In the café, we offer food and drinks to guests of all ages!
For Groups
ANGLA Windmill & Heritage Center is one of the favorite stops of excursion groups visiting Saaremaa island. We welcome both children groups and adult groups.
Special packages and group menus available for guests of all ages!
About the origin and history of the windmills
In September 2023, Steve Rawling – a business storytelling consultant and a former BBC TV journalist, visited ANGLA Windmills and Heritage Center. The owner, Alver Sagur, talked to Steve about the origin and history of the windmills. His stories were translated into English by Annely Tank, the marketing manager of Visit Saaremaa.
